The Sad State of Integrity

Integrity.

The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines it as:

1 : firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility
2 : an unimpaired condition : soundness
3 : the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness

A synonym of Integrity is Honesty

But integrity is more than just honesty. It is the ability to do what is right when what is wrong is so much easier to do. In my book, it is one of the most difficult but important value to hold true to.

.....................................................................................

Whaooh! Hang on there. Why should you be bothered about doing the right thing when you can get away with what is easier? When the wrong can sometimes be so wickedly enjoyable? Integrity is for silly romantics with prescribed rose-tinted lenses. Where are you going to find time and space in today's progressing-at-a-maniacal-pace society to be a person of integrity? Stop being foolish. Take a leaf out of your boss's book. Surely you must know by now that by holding on to your silly romantic ideals you will only end up more disappointed, more tired.

.....................................................................................

Sad is the day when One has to convince Oneself that nobilty has gone to the dogs.
Sad is the day when the young, knowing the right from the wrong, choses to err.
Sad is the day when the elder, thus assumably wiser, encourages it.
Sad is the day when the same elder, more powerful, attempts to bully One into submission.

Thank God it stopped at just an attempt for there is only so much sadness One can take.

Sad will One be no more for One rejoices for holding on to One's beliefs;
For there are far more worthy subjects demanding of One's energies.

As for the elder and her young, One wishes them all the best in their charge forward.

One wonders how far they can go before they fall into the quicksand of dishonesty.
